In context of the consumption era, it becomes more necessary to explore the value of the literary canon and give their new interpretations. The paper argues that the literary canon has important spiritual values, containing cultural values and construction identity functions of national culture. It is regarded as a symbol of a nation and exerts vital role in building up its national identity and cultural value.
