On the Band-Wagon Effect on the Stock Market

This paper illustrates the reasons and characteristics of band wagon effect on the stock market, and puts forward the strategies on rational investment. It holds that band-wagon effect is a kind of unreasoned slavish behavior in essence, which is formed mainly because of the interest-driven, following public opinion psychology, lacking information, bankers＇ hyping, media＇ s instigating, and the undeveloped stock market and investors. Investors need to study hard, know how to summarize and use information, keep even mood, not to follow public opinion blindly, and make independent judgment and rational investment.
