Study on Basic Theory of TCM Must Go the Way of Sustainable Development——A Gist Speech in Beijing Forum about International Study on Basic Theory of TCM

进入二十一世纪,中医药学仍然面临生存危机,但又有良好的发展机遇。发展中医药学,是一项长期的战略任务和极为复杂的系统工程,其中中医基础理论的发展是这项工程的脊梁,中医药学发展的关键在于基础理论研究的突破。中医基础理论发展缓慢的原因,一是源于自身体系特点,二是受多种因素的制约。要使中医基础理论研究得到可持续发展,必须深刻认识其学术内涵与特征,尊重其自身发展规律,探索研究新路,稳健求进,整体布局,局部突破。

Chinese medicine still faces the survival crisis in the twenty-first century. At the same time, it meets many favorable opportunities of development. Developing Chinese medicine is a long-term strategy task mad complex system engineering, of which the development of basic theories of TCM is the backbone of this project, and the key to develop Chinese medicine also lies in the breakthrough of the study on basic theories of TCM. One reason why the basic theory of TCM develops slowly is the characteristic of its system, and the other is that it is restricted by many factors. Only by realizing the academic characteristic and content of basic theory of TCM, following its developing law, .seeking a new way, developing steadily for progress and dealing well with the overall situation and partial, can the study on the basic theory of TCM go the way of sustainable development.
