成语是各民族语言的精华,具有很强的表现力。语言学家、词汇学家都对成语有过专门的研究。本文就英汉成语的词源进行对比分析,探析成语中体现出的文化差异,并在此基础上,对英汉成语的翻译提出几种相应的策略,如保留,转换以及移植形象法等。

Idioms are the essence of every national language. They are highly impressive. Many linguists as well as lexicologists have carried out special studies of idioms. This paper expounds on the etymological differences between English and Chinese idioms and probes into the cultural divergence reflected by idioms. On the basis of the contrastive analysis, several strategies are proposed., the reservation of images, the conversion of images, etc.
