二十世纪三四十年代,路翎因抗战流亡到了四川北碚,创作了大量富有地域文化特征的小说。立足于乡场,他深刻反思了人们"精神奴役的创伤",并从中找出"原始强力"作为疗救创伤的良药,由此提供了一种理想的人生样式,完成了对四川乡场文化的创化。

Luling had stayed in Beibei, Sichuan during Anti-Japan War for over eight years, about where he had written many novels. In the works, he rethought deeply about ＇the sprit enslaves＇ and had found the ＇Primordial power ＇to cure it, and then he set up an ideal model of living in Siehuan village eventually.
