Black people in America lived as slaves for 200 years. They suffered racial discrimination for a long time after they were emanci- pated. The love and hate to America co - existed in their hearts. The miserable childhood of Richard Wright provides very rich materials for Iris literary creation. As a very highly gifted black writer, he truly exposed the evils of racial discrimination in his description of the miseries of the black people of the South in his childhood, which shocked the American society. His masterpieces, Native Son and Black Boy make him the founder of protest novel school in black American literature. His literary success wins a position for black literature in mainstream American literature.
