黄岩翻簧竹刻是诞生于浙东台州的一种极具地方文化特色的工艺品,从清朝同治年间开始,历经一个世纪多的发展,涌现了陈夔典、陈方俊等翻簧制作名家,工艺水平达到很高的程度。其创作的作品以日常实用器具为主,将中国画的艺术要素融合到器具功能上,提升其审美功能,升华为以审美功能为主的翻簧壁挂等作品,充分体现了民间工艺家对美的发现、创造和对美好生活的追求。

The carved bamboo ware in Huangyan District is a special local handicraft of Taizhou city located in the east of Zhejiang province. It was created in the period of Tongzhi reign in Qing dynasty and had been developed for more than one century. The bamboo was mainly made as household utensils by the sculptors like CHEN Kuidian , CHEN Fangjun, etc. with high technological level which was embodied on the introduction of aesthetic elements of Chinese painting. Therefore, the carved bamboo ware is not only used as utensil, but as wall decoration for its aesthetic function. It reflects the folk sculptors＇ability to discover and create the aesthetics and pursuit of a better life.
