The PIA unit in SINOPEC Shanghai Petrochemical Co. ,Ltd has been expanded from 225,000 TPY to 400,000 TPY. The changes of corrosion of main equipment in the expansion project of the PTA unit and material selections are introduced. The analysis shows that the corrosion management and monitoring must be strengthened and high - quality material must be selected to prevent spot corrosion, erosion corrosion, stress corrosion cracking and welds corrosion etc so as to ensure a safe reliable operation.
