The recycling of abandoned refractory at home and abroad, especially the recycling of used main trough castables from Baosteel are introduced in detail. The related research and development has been made in combination with features of the used main trough castables. The compact corundum material extracted from the used main trough castables was a success. Its physical indices have reached the national standard of the same type of new materials. It has been used to produce new trough castables and has put into the secondary trial production at Baosteel. The effect was wonderful. The use of this product has not only reduced the cost in refractory, increased the enterprise and society＇ s economic profits, but also improved the environment and promoted the development of recycling economy.
