语言学家、音乐家、教育家赵元任先生,是"五四"新文化运动以后最早把西洋作曲技法引进中国创作艺术歌曲的作曲家之一,在他的艺术歌曲中涉及西洋和声与民族和声、西洋作曲旋法与民族旋法以及歌曲音调与民族语言的结合。本文选其艺术歌曲的旋律与音调为研究对象,着重探讨其歌曲中的中西元素。

Zhao yuanren, a linguist, musician and educator in China, is the one of the musicians who introduced the skills of melodies from the west to China after the ＂May4th＂ new cultural movement. In his songs Western harmony and Chinese harmony, Western skills and Chinese skills, melody and language are all combined together. This paper has researched the rhythm and tonality in his songs, and emphasized the Western and Chinese elements in Zhao yuanren＇s songs.
