从中西文化的角度阐释模因论与中国英语词汇

A memetics-based study of China English vocabulary from the perspective of western and Chinese cultures

随着英语变体研究的深入,中国英语也开始得到越来越多学者的关注,但现有的研究大多是概括性地论述中国英语的存在与发展,还未独立地从各个层面阐述其存在和发展的作用机制。借用文化进化和传播的模因论对中国文化影响下的中国英语词汇层面单独加以分析,中国英语词汇可以被认为是一种强势模因,它通过自身的某些特点,满足了模因复制的选择标准,从而顺利通过同化、保持、表达和传播的四个阶段,因此为人们注意、理解、接受并使用。

With further research into English varieties, China English has also drawn greater attention of more and more scholars. The present study concerning China English, however, is mainly done by generally discussing its existence and development, without separately expounding the causes of this linguistic phenomenon from each aspect. By employing memetics which originally dealt with cultural evolution and spread, China English vocabulary can be regarded as a type of strong meme. With certain char- acteristics of its own, China English vocabulary meets the selection criteria of meme replication, and hence has more chances to survive the four stages, viz. , assimilation, retention, expression and transmission. As a result, China English vocabulary has been noticed, understood, accepted and used.
