在社会主义市场经济条件下和当代中国的道德建设中,儒家的忠恕之道究竟有无普世的价值可以供今人利用?本文认为,忠恕之道的内在灵魂和思想基础是"仁者爱人"的仁爱精神和性善的理性原则。在此基础上,我们可以对忠恕之道的内涵进行多维诠释,而不宜作单义的界定。忠恕之道的内容和形式会随着时代的发展而改变,但其精神实质和基本原则将在新的历史条件下继续彰显它的魅力和价值。

Does the Confucian Doctrine of Loyalty and Forgiveness possess some universal value and could be applicable to the Socialist market economy and contemporary Chinese moral construction？ This article holds that the inner soul and ideological basis of the doctrine, are the reasonable principles of the spirit of love and goodness of human nature as embodied in the phrase of ＂the benevolent loving the people. ＂ Upon such a basis, we could allow muhi-dimensional interpretations for the connotations of the doctrine instead of single dimensional definitions. In spite of the change of its form and contents with the development of the times, the spiritual essence and basic principles will continue to reveal its charm and value under new historical conditions.
