Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH) appears to be associated with metabolic syndrome. CD4^+ T helper cells have an important immune function and toward a Thl phenotype in NASH, Th1/Th2 ratio decreases, with increased proin-flammatory eytokines IFN-γ and TNF-α production. The mechanism may be related to insulin resistance or innate immune function alteration. CD4^+ CD25^+ regulatory T cells secrete TGF-β and IL-10 inhibitory eytokine, control the disease process through inhibiting Th1/Th2 cells proliferation and differentiation.
