Objective: To observe the varieties and the clinical meanings of the expression of CD19 and CD20 on B lymphocyte of peripheral blood in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods: Blood samples were analyzed from 30 patients with acute cerebral infarction and 30 control subjects. Eligible patients were diagnosed as having acute cerebral infarction by the assessment of symptoms and by CT or MR. The two groups' age and sex ware matched. Every sample was stained with monoclonal antibody and was detected by using a two--colour fluorescence analysis with an automated flow cytometer. Results: The mean percentage of CD 19 or CD20 positive expression lymphocyte in the patient group was significantly increased than it of the control group(P〈0.001). The mean percentage of CD19 or CD20 positive expression lymphocyte and SSS score in the patient group had positive correlation(P〈0.05). Conclusion: The states of patients with acute cerebral infarction become worse as the expression of CD19 and CD20 increase. The increased expression of CD19 and CD20 might give a clue that humoral immunity is confusion. CD19 and CD20 may take part in the inflammation and immune reactions in acute cerebral infarction.
