From Riverside City to Coastal City: A Brief History of Nanning Urban Construction

南宁历代古城沿邕江而建,得水利,受水患。古城在选址、建造和扩展等方面都有值得今天的城市建设加以借鉴之处。未来南宁城市发展将在方向上发生根本变化,从滨江城市转变成沿海城市,但在城市交通和水系保护方面还应当注意避免以往的失误。

Ancient towns of Nanning were built along the Yong River in the past dynasties, which made them both gain and lose. There are many references for current urban construction in electing site, constructing, extending, etc. The trend of the city development will have a fundamental change from riverside city to coastal city. During the course of development, we should avoid the past errors in such points as urban traffic and water system protection.
