A Dream of Red Mansions stands as a milestone of realism in the history of Chinese classic novels. However, such a realistic monument begins with three myths--＂Nv Wa Mending Sky＂, ＂Tears Given Dai Yu in Return＂, and ＂The Land of Illusion＂. The contradiction between its realistic nature and the existence of fairy elements has been long since accounted for political reasons by researches, but factually, it proves to be only a superficial phenomenon. From those three myths can be perceived the author＇ s deep concern for reality and his profound experience of life and also reflected his rigorous deliberations on society, love and life. They are just the artistic reflection of the author＇ s paradoxical mind and his real experience of life.
