The exterior framework of The Sound and the Fury is polyphonic, so is the internal sensibility of it. Considering the aspect of the latter, William Faulkner not only experienced the tribulation of the living, but also understood how much one could bear; he tasted the inanity and fastidium of the life deeply, but believed that the human being would create a fine future ; he was despairing, but claimed to resist the despair and the oppressive fate. So The Sound and the Fury is not only regional, but international ; it is not only traditional, but modernistic. So we can say that it＇s comprehensively and thoroughly polyphonic.
