The Initiation of Modern Chinese Vocational Education and the Course of Chinese Modernization

近代中国的职业教育肇始于洋务运动的兴起,发轫于培养翻译人才的外语学堂,伴随着近代中国制造业的起步,为培养专门人才的各级各类职业教育学堂应运而生。近代中国职业教育的创办是中国社会由封建社会向资本主义社会转型的产物,而又对中国社会转型给予巨大的促进和推动,加速了中国经济、国防、思想文化和教育近代化的进程,对近代中国社会的发展产生了深远影响。

Chinese modern vocational education initiated from the Foreign Language College in the era of Westernization Movement. With the rising of the Chinese modern manufacture, vocational schools brought up special talents of various levels and types emerged as the times required. The foundation of Chinese Modem vocational education was the result of the transformation from feudalism to capitalism society in China, which reinforced the transformation conversely and accelerated the course of modernization of Chinese economic, national defence and education. All these brought deep influence on the development of modern Chinese society.
