Why did Cao Yu fail to turn out fine works late in his life？ Why was he deep in pangs？ After the publication of Family,Cao Yu was already suffering a literary crisis - having nothing to write.The founding of the People＇s Republic saw him in even deeper ideological crisis. In many a political movements, he was high above, but mentally disabled. Late in life, he was virtually exhausted：wanting very much to write, and yet having nothing to write about. He did not realize his own problem until it was much too late. Cao＇s literary llfe entails many lessons for other writers to learn.
