随着近现代世界科学活动中心从意大利开始,经英国、法国、德国至美国,历经了四次转移,近现代世界高等教育中心也发生了类似的转移。分析、研究其中的原因,对中国高等教育的发展有着有益的借鉴意义。

The center of modem and contemporary higher education changed with the shifts of the global center of scientific activities respectively from Italy through Britain, France, and Germany to the U. S.. The paper tries to present the causes for the transfer in an effort to provide reference to China＇ s advance of higher education.
