The Integration of SNMP and RMON Technologies for Network Management

基于TCP／IP网络的简单网络管理协议SNMP（SimpleNetworkManagementProtocol）已作为事实协议标准被广泛使用.针对SNMP协议实现网络管理的局限性，RMON（RemotenetworkMONitoring）标准应运而生。该文在SNMP协议、SNMP管理机制深入分析的基础上，详细论述RMON技术的工作原理，RMONMIB（Manage.mentInformationBase）结构，最后说明综合SNMP和RMON技术实现网络管理的方法。

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) has been widely used as a de facto standard for managing TCP/ IPchased networks.Since there are significant limitations to this important standard, RMON, Remote (network) MONitoring, was developed and became a standard.In this paper, after have discussed the SNMP protocol and its mal1agement mechanism in detail, we explained the internal workings of the RMON standard, the structure of the RMON Management Information Base(MIB).Finally, explained the method on the iniegration of SNMP and Remote network MONitoring technologies for network management.
