美国民主与共和两党为争夺总统宝座开始新一轮角逐。就当前选情看，一时还难分胜负，且影响美国大选最后结果的因素很多。美国的安全和外交政策以及国家经济状况仍将是大选辩论的主要议题。中国也会是大选话题之一，但中美关系的基本格局已经形成，不会因美国大选而发生实质性改变。

A new round of competition has already begun in which the Democratic Party and Republican Party in the U.S. are scrambling for the presidency in 2008. Judging by the present election situation, the two parties are locked in a bitter fight when the victory is not yet decided. Besides, factors that will exert their influences on the final outcome of the election are numerous. The U.S. security and foreign policies and its economic conditions will still remain the main topics in the election debate in the future. China will also be one of the topics in this election, but the basic pattern of China-U.S. relations has already taken shape and substantial changes are unlikely to take place because of the U.S. general election.
