The rise of East Asian regionalism has provided China with an important opportunity for defending its national security and will contribute to dispelling misunderstanding by some countries in the region about China's development. Meanwhile, the mode of operation of 'speaking with one voice' and some policies of East Asian regionalism, will also tie down China's freedom of safeguarding its own security and rightful interests. Not only China should show respect to the strategic interests of various countries in East Asia, but China should also try hard to make those countries pay enough attention to China's national interests.
