Metonymy and the logic of taxonomy

转喻有自身的逻辑特征。转喻的运用所表现出的逻辑特征总体可表述为:分类逻辑意识是转喻得以发生的前提条件,在事物原有分类秩序的基础上,转喻体现了运用分类逻辑的配置与排列的独特形态,有些运用还表现出明显的可能世界逻辑的一些基本特征。

Metonymy has its own logic,which shows the main characteristics as follows.The awareness of the logic of taxonomy is the pre-condition for the use of metonymy.Metonymy, however,further requires a rearrangement of the elements in the type hierarchy concerned on the basis of the original order of taxonomy by a detailed analy- sis of the elements,an extension of the hierarchy,and an integration of the types,thus displaying a unique man- ner of type hierarchy.Some kind of metonymic expressions also show peculiarities of the logic of possible worlds.
