Can China Become Self sufficient in Wood? —It should make an issue of fuelwood consumption

薪材是当今发展中国家农村的主要能源，消耗量大，热能利用率低，造成森林资源的严重浪费。本文重点从森林资源现有量、消耗量、消费结构、利用水平等方面分析，研究薪材消耗现状、存在的问题，力求找出中国２．５亿ｔ标准煤薪材消耗量的最佳“节流”对策，供研究我国木材自给问题参考。

It is one of the considerable issues, which attracts a great deal of attention of the government and foresters, whether China becomes self sufficient in wood. China is a developing country with the rapid growth of economy and population and poor forest resources. As population and economy grow, the need for timber greatly increases which will result in great pressure to the forest resources. Therefore, the authour thinks that the policy of both increasing forest resources and reducing wood consumption must be adopted to meet the demand for timber by the development of economy and improvement of living standard. At the bases of the detailed analyses of the existing forest resources, quantity and structure of timber consumption, technical level of wood utilization and present status of fuelwood consumed, the authour it is extremely important to make an issue of consumption of fuelwood in 250 million tons of equivalent coal to find a way of self supporting of timber for the nation and fuelwood for rural community.
