The paper gives a detailed introduction to the theory of the high vacuum and dynamic compaction method and the key points of application of the method to engineering practice. Based on the construction practice, the results of the shallow loading plate tests and the heavy duty dynamic sounding as well as the measured data of settlement prove that the method of high vacuum preloading in combination of dynamic compaction to improve soft soil foundations has the advantage of short working duration and better improvement effect, which has to some extent applied the dynamic compaction method to the saturated soft clayey soil.
