由于雄性配子（精子）有性染色体的差异，哺乳动物Ｘ、Ｙ精子在质量或密度上存在着微小的差别。为了突出这微小的质量差，实验先将两性精子共有的顶体和尾部都去掉，然后再将精子细胞核在氯化铯密度梯度条件下离心，成功地将乳牛精子细胞核分成明显的两个区带。

Owing to the difference of sexual chromosomes of mammalian male gametes (sperm),X and Y bearing sperm were tiny difference in quality or densityTo give prominence to the quality difference between X and Y bearing sperm at first,the acrosomes and tails were taken off,then the sperm muclei were centrifuged in the density gradient medium of cesium chloride,and they were separated into two fractions successfully.
