Regional Gap in Socio-economic Development of Xinjiang

研究发现，新疆在现代化进程中，一方面总体社会经济发展很快；另一方面区域发展的差距也在逐步扩大，特别是新疆少数民族聚居地区的发展更是相对落后于新疆其他地区。新疆区域发展的不平衡带来了许多潜在性问题，这些重大问题都直接影响着新疆的稳定和可持续发展。

During the modernization process, Xinjiang as a whole has prospered economically; however, regional gap in socio--economic development is growing. In particular, the level of socioe--conomic development of regions inhabited by ethnic groups in compact communities is much lower than that of other regions in Xinjiang. Regional gap has resulted in many potential social problems, which have direct influences on social stability and sustainable development in Xinjiang.
