Contrastive Rhetoric and Translation Studies

首先阐明对比修辞学的学科性质、任务及其与翻译学的密切关系,继而从语言和文化的各个层面分析不同语言(主要是汉语和英语)之间的修辞差异,指出翻译工作(尤其文学翻译)的困难所在及应对方法,论证对比修辞学在翻译学科建设中不可忽视的重要作用。

This paper first expounds on the nature and task of the contrastive rhetoric and its close relation with translation studies, then analyses the rhetorical differences among different languages （mostly between Chinese and English ） from the dimensions of language and culture at their various levels, and points out that the difficulties and solutions for translation, especially literary translation. Finally it concludes that the contrastive rhetoric plays a vitally important role in translation studies.
