Space Syntax and Rational Inclusive Planning

从上世纪80年代末起,为什么空间句法能够在西方城市规划与设计中得以运用?本文认为一个主要原因是在上世纪后30年,西方自上而下的传统物质性规划与设计已经完全演变为自下而上的规划与设计,其中很多不同的相关责任方参与到规划设计过程之中,而在很大程度上,空间句法理论与方法可以理性地解决包容性规划与设计中出现的空间形态问题。

Why has space syntax tech-nology been applied, or potentially applicable, to the solution of the Western urban planning and design since the late 1980s？ One of the major reasons, it could be argued, lies in the fact that the tra-ditional top-down physical planning and design had evolved into the bottom-up planning and design that is inclusive of diverse stakeholders in the West in the last three decades of the 20 century. The space syntax theory and its methodologies, to a great extent, could and can ratio- nally solve the morphological problems rising from such inclusive planning and design.
