Componential Analysis is one of the important approaches in studying semantics. It can divide a certain semantic element into some smaller semantic components via dichotomy. This paper introduces the theoretical basis of Componential Analysis and its values in analyzing the word meaning, as well as some inevitable problems and limitations . By probing into the conceptual framework and its practical apphcation, the paper proposes some points which need to be improved in order to push its development.
