Marine Biotechnology ——a new research field with opportunities and challenges

海洋生物学与生物技术相结合，产生了海洋生物技术（Ｍａｒｉｎｂｉｏｔｅｃｈｎｏｌｏｇｙ）这一新的研究领域。目前，它虽然还处于初创时期，但已显示出将对海洋产业的发展产生重要影响。广阔的研究开发领域和相对薄弱的基础使其成为机遇和挑战并存的一个新领域。

The rise and development of marine biotechnology as a new research field is described in the present contribution.The existing conditions problems and applicability prospects of the science are explained in terms of marine culture and exploitation of natural marine products.Furthermore,some personal views and opinions about the development of marine biotechnology in China are proposed.
