The Metaphysical Kernel of Chinese National Spirit

中华民族精神的形上内核包括了三个向度,即自强不息、厚德载物、与时偕行。前两者是中华民族精神的基本内容,后一个向度则是说,以自强不息、厚德载物为核心内容的中华民族精神又是与时偕行、随时而中的。三者构成了一个动态的立体结构,其中"自强不息"与"厚德载物"构成了横列的"一体之二元"。这两者不仅具体地体现了刚强劲健、勇猛精进之能与淳厚博大、兼容并包之德,而且其形上意蕴中在普遍性、一般性的高度包含了刚柔相济、德能一体的要求,并且,因为完整地关涉到了人之生命的两大基本层面而具有了充分的理论涵括力。与此同时,无论是自强不息还是厚德载物以及两者所构成的"二元一体"的具体精神义涵与表现形态,又都不是静止的、凝固的,而是与时偕行、随时而中的。

The metaphysical kernel of Chinese national spirit is a dynamic stereo structure, which contains the ＂self struggle＂ and ＂noble-generous mind＂ as two equal dimensions. These not only show the competence of doughty, powerful, vigorous and the virtue of pure, immense, generous, but also include the desire of combining strong and weak, competence and virtue in the height of universal in its metaphysical meaning. And, both of the two dimensions together with their whole structure and spirit are never quiescent or solid, but always pursuing the ＂mean＂ in accordance with time.
