从英汉习语的语义关系探寻中西文化差异

Study of the Differences between English and Chinese Culture through the Semantic Relations of English and Chinese Idioms

英汉两种语言历史悠久、源远流长,都包含有大量的习语。英汉习语都是在语言的长期使用过程中形成的,且含有特殊意义的固定词语组合,在结构和语义上有其特殊性。本文分析了英汉习语的语义关系特点,追溯了英汉习语的文化形成根源,以达到提高我们跨文化交际能力和更好地了解英语国家文化的目标。

English and Chinese, both of which have a long history and contain plenty of idioms, are formed in the long process of usage, and those fixed phrases with special messages are particular in structure and semantic aspect. This paper analyzes the characteristics of semantic relations between English and Chinese idioms, tracks down the cultural rootstock of their formation, so that we can improve our competence of cross-cultural communication and understand the culture of English-spoken countries better.
