Overview of the Australian educational system

本文对澳大利亚的教育发展过程、教育体系、质量保证以及国际教育与培训作了简要的介绍,以便我们能深入理解澳大利亚的教育,以资我国借鉴和学习,也为进一步开展教育的国际合作提供参考。

This paper makes a brief introduction to the Australian educational system for China＇s reference and international cooperation in education. In Australia, there are 6 states and 2 special districts in total with a population of 20,230,000, and English is its official language. Autonomous education is practiced in all the states. In the whole country, the enrollment of the students is about 3, 300,000, and two third of the schools are run by the government. The education before middle school lasts for 13 years （ including one pre - school year）, and the education after middle school is divided into two types： vocational and technical education and higher education. The local government of every state and demesne is entitled to examine the qualifications of educational and training institutions for reg- istration and administration, and also to provide funds to those institutions. The federal government allo- cates funds to higher education, and improves the education quality by use of national funds, and is responsible for the liaison of international exchanges of education.
