Introduction Although a clear concept of ideology has never been agreed upon, it can be defied in a neutral way that is supposed to describe 'system of thought' or 'system of belief' or 'symbolic systems' pertaining to social action or political practice. (Kevin Williams, 2003) Based on this, it is much easier to analyze the interaction between ideology and media. That is to say, ideology is the opinion behind the media text and the secret agenda of its producers. Once such hidden meaning is accepted as 'natural' or 'reality' by the audience, it will affect their viewpoints to a great extent according certain things. As one of the important method of mass media, images are used to present the latent meaning of the producer through reporting and describing news stories. As they are the key texts in any researching of the way in which ideology works, in this article, I would like to identify ideology in analyzing some particular images relating to the same kind of story. In addition, semiotic analysis will be used to show what is implicit in mass communication and make it explicit in a certain cultural background.
