This paper introduces the development of a new type bar-code decoding system, which uses the micro processor 8031 and the programmable device PSD3XX to realize the light-electronic data collecting, saving, analyzing and communicating with the PC through the serial port or keyboard port. The use of the PSD chips greatly decreases the circuit board size and power consumption also improves the system reliability
