The Value Orientation of Jiangnan Academies in the Southern Song Dynasty

书院自产生以后一向是弘扬传统文化的主阵地,它与文化之间是一种相互依存、相互促进的关系,在其发展演变过程中又体现出特殊的文化传承价值取向。尤其到南宋时期,江南一带书院从各个角度和层次对传统文化加以选择、创新、传播和传递,形成鲜明的时代和地域性特色,对当时乃至后世书院与文化的发展有着举足轻重的导向作用。

The Jiangnan academes had been the main field for advocating the traditional culture since they came into being. They have an interdependent and interactive relationship and in the evolution they began to assume some special value orientation. In the Southern Song Dynasty the Jiangnan academes made choices among the traditional culture and reproduced and communicated them and finally began to bear prominent historical and regional features so that they were instructive for the development of the academic culture at the time and afterwards.
