本文从英汉民族的生存环境、习俗、历史典故三方面,分析了英汉习语之间的文化差异,在翻译英汉习语时,应根据实际情况,采用灵活的翻译方法,即直译法、意译法、功能对等译法,才能使译文既达意,又能保持原习语的文化内涵和民族特色。

This paper analyzes the cultural differences of English and Chinese idioms in terms of living environments, customs as well as historical myths and legends. In translating English and Chinese idioms, people may adopt flexible translation methods which are metaphrase, paraphrase and functional？ equivalence according to the practical circumstances, in order to make the translation under-standable and keep the original idioms cultural meanings and national characteristics.
