孔子十分重视孝。在孔子看来,孝是养亲和敬亲的有机结合,缺一不可。但敬亲比养亲更重要更难得,更能体现人的伦常。敬亲应该从和容、恭顺、忧思、哀祭四个方面同时努力。孔子的孝义对当代社会的赡养老人问题具有重要的现实意义。

Confucius attaches great importance to filial piety. In Confucius opinion, oldage support and old- age respect are closely related and they are indispensable . But the latter is more important and more harder to cherish, and it embodies human beingsinorality better. People can do better in old - age respect from the following aspects：with a kind face, being properly submissive, often thinking of parents and caring and uaual sacrifice after their death. Confucius＇opinion of filial piety is of great realistic significance to the contemporary social problems of the elderly.
