On Ambiguity and Its Translation

歧义是语言交流中一种常见的语言现象。歧义可以分为词汇歧义、句法结构歧义和语用歧义。在翻译时,译者要根据不同的歧义类型采取不同的翻译策略,目的是为了达到译文与原文的标记价值最大程度的等值。

Ambiguity is very common in language communicaton, which comprises three categories： ambiguous vocabulary, ambiguous sentence structure and pragmatic ambiguity. In translation of ambiguity, translators should adopt different strategies in light of the categories of ambiguity to get the closest equivalence of the target text to the source text in terms of pragmatic markedness value.
