论清华国学院时期的王国维

王国维在清华国学院时间仅为两年多,但在现代文化史和学术史上留下许多耐人寻味的话题。在他静默无语的背后,隐藏着丰富而复杂的情感体验。作为一个平凡的人,他有不可回避的人格缺陷;作为一个现代意义上的教师,他的教学方式介于传统与现代之间;他的自沉,尽管结束的是个体的生命,却成为现代文化史的一个象征,一个阐释不尽的文化隐喻。

Although Wang Guowei had only worked for the Institute of Chinese Ancient Civilization Studies of Qinghua University for more than two years, he left us many questions yet to be explored in the history of modern culture and learning. Hidden behind his silence was his exuberant and complicated emotional experience. As a modern teacher, he adopted a teaching method between the traditional and the modern. His suicidal drowning, apparantly putting an end to merely an individual life, has become a symbol of the history of modern culture, or a cultural metaphor of infinite interpritations. This essay contains the author＇s personal interpretation of these subjects.
