Payday loans are very popular in US. On the one hand, their convenience has enabled the poor to achieve credit services. On the other hand, as a result of lacking self-control, customers have to borrow continuously until they are immersed in debts. The US government has adopted more and more strict policies to regulate payday lenders. Economists have done some empirical analyses of whether payday loans can improve the welfare or not, but their findings are evidenced with pros and cons. Payday loans help us understand both the positive and negative effects of convenient credit services, which is a valuable enlightenment for China's rural financial reform.
