The American South has a rich - contented history. As far as Faulkner and other southern writers are concerned, histories of families and individuals repeat the past for which is a key note to understand the present. Therefore, the search of the past is to rehabilitate and reconstruct the lost order. However, this interpretation of the history lies in a repetition of difference which entails a power to disentangle the Grand History. Inasmuch the fragment of the historical linear time frees the individual histories, the textual representation is not of heroic epic, but on special cases in which selves are fashioning. The writing of the individual participates in a building or imagination of the South. In the negotiation between social texts and literary texts, in the intertextuality between social discourse and textual discourse, and in the difference between the fictional South and the South in reality, the Southern writers＇historical consciousness enters the texts, represents and rebuilds another South, and finally acquires the narrative authority.
