In recent years Sino-Japanese rela- tions have been delicate and even once hit the rock bottom,since the two countries restored diplomatic relations.On the surface,controversies over Yasukuni shrine and Japanese histo- ry textbook seem to be the major barriers undermining the bilateral relations.But it should be noticed that China and Japan have been holding different views about the history for many years.Then why is it in the late years that the divergence looms to sabotage relations between the two countries?It may help to resolve the problem by taking heed of what's under the surface.
