论“中体西用”思想的进步作用

The Progressive Effect of "Chinese System Occidental Use"

"中体西用"思想由于其"中体"而备受争议,但其"西用"确对中国近代化做出了巨大的贡献。作为一个整体,"中体"和"西用"是密不可分的,在当时的条件下,二者相辅相成,没有"中体"也就很难有"西用",没有"西用","中体"也就没有意义。抛开争议,中体西用思想的进步意义也是非常重要的。

The idea of＂ Chinese system occidental use＂ maintaining political system of Qing dynasty and introducing occidental science and technology is in dispute due to the former part. However, the latter part does make great contribution to modernization of Qing dynasty. On the social condition, indivisible, the two parts of the idea supplement each other. Without maintaining political system of Qing dynasty, it is impossible to introduce occidental science and teachology while the latter is insignificant with no the former. Laying the dispute by, the progressive sense of the idea is very important.
