Male's Point of View and a Center of Female's Consciousness——On Gender Politics in Henry James's Narration of "the American girl"

As narrative pattems, ＂male＇s point of view＂ and ＂a center of female＇s consciousness＂ are used by Henry James frequently in his fictional texts of ＂the American girl＂. Analyzing narrative technique together with feminist ideology is a new approach to explore the ideological implications of the fictions .Therefore, focusing on the pattems of ＂male＇s point of view＂ and ＂a center of female＇s consciousness＂, the gender ideology is revealed ： In the male gaze , ＂her＂ is treated as an object of desire and commodity to be bought and sold ; Deeply in her own consciousness, does she intemalize patriarchal values and does she adopt own identity as an object .
