It is said in the Diamond Sutra that calligraphy renders a great service to mankind, for it is convenient for people' s reading and explaining. From Nanbei Dynasty to Ming and Qing Dynasty, carving and writing the Diamond Sutra became the order of the day. Buddhist sutra and calligraphy mutually influenced each other and developed together. The stone carving of the Diamond Sutra of Mount Tai is taken as an example in this paper. With its sparse and unconventionally graceful structure, vigor of strokes in calligraphy and the style between regular and official script, it has evolved the artistic features of its own and it is also of great value in the aspects of historical data, Buddhist philosophy and artistic features of calligraphy.
