The traditional road sectional type has put up more and more defects with the development of the economy and the change of the traffic status. In the view of the high-standard construction of the commerce and shopping center of Binhai New Area, adsorbing the advanced idea at home and abroad, and changing the anciently simple method to consider the design of the road alignment, the article puts forward that the cross sectional design of the urban road should comprehensively consider the factors of the road traffic capacity, traffic safety, intersection channeling, arrangement of bus stations, laying of the ground and underground municipal pipelines, greening landscape, ecological environmental protection. This thinking has the great instructing significance for the planning, design, construction and management of the cross section of the urban road.
