As long as the simple cause of voicing is identified,we can find a very easy approach to the issue of the origin of music. In other words,we do not have to see it a difficult one.On the con- trary,it can be quite easy to answer the question.Music naturally emerges when we voice.Whether the sound is made through lan- guages or during labour work, there is always sound with different pitch and stretches, which certainly have no necessary ties with languages or labour.Unless a certain language is under specific control of pitch,it cannot provide any new opportunity for the emer- gence of music. One example is obvious:boatmen's songs can have the melody of singing only when they get rid of the heavy work, and are in the easy mood of downstream journey with no re- straint of their labour.Unmistakably, the voicing of human kind did not originate from such concrete sources as language, labour, games, imitation, witchcraft or emotion. But rather,it has a more primitive origin. The vocal organs of mankind are born natural. We do not nec- essarily use our vocal organs because of any specific reasons. We make our sound to boost our courage, discharge our loneliness,re- sist our ineffable fear, release our passion,or even react physically in conditioned reflex. These are quite common in our modern life experiences.Do these expressions of sound need any other specific reasons? Is it impossible that such reasons of voicing were more common and more natural in the ancient times when man's lan- guage and understanding ability was still very low? Do we have to find any concrete reasons for the seemingly unexplainable humming or crying? In my view, such'meaningless'humming or crying is just the'unexplainable'voicing, which displays the purity and freshness of the music art in its stage of budding. We can make this presumption:man's humming or crying with no language meaning or specific implication was far earlier than the need was required for such human activities as labour, language, witchcraft, praying, games, imitation and specific expression of emo- tion.It appeared even at the beginning of human origin,or at the early stage of man's'unconscious expectations'.This kind of meaningless cry passes through the entire development of human kind, and even up to today when it is still a common means of ex- pression of man's unexplainable emotions. Thus,it can be'ap- plied'in a wide extension of time and space. It better displays the innate, natural psychological condition of mankind in its primitive stage. It is more random, and freer,so that it is more possible to find or'expect'something on the orbit of beauty expression on man's own vocal instrument. For thousands of years,'activities'of our limbs or organs caused purely by the urge of'physiological demand',whether at the beginning of human origin or at the pre- sent time when human languages and other skills have matured, have passed on throughout human lives.
